About Me

Lydia, your Edinburgh Guide

When I moved to Edinburgh it was meant to be for a year or two. That was 15 years ago. Originally from Austria, I began my guiding journey leading ghost tours and history walks through Edinburgh’s South Bridge Vaults before expanding my tours across the country.
Today, I guide coach groups, cruise excursions and other interested guests throughout Scotland but my heart still belongs to Edinburgh.

My passion lies in social history and folklore: the stories behind the stories. Rather than simply recounting dates and famous events, I love exploring what life was really like for people throughout the ages — what they feared, hoped for, argued about and struggled with, and how all of this shaped the people and spirit of modern Scotland.

Expect plenty of personal anecdotes and intriguing legends, folklore and silly jokes, maybe a song or two and a dram of whisky if we feel like it!
